There was a Golden-crowned Kinglet in a mixed flock of Bushtits, Ruby-crowned Kinglets and Orange-crowned Warblers in Birchim Canyon this morning. The flock was about half-way between Hwy 395 and the gate at the east entrance to the canyon. He was foraging in the rabbitbrush and sagebrush which gave me the best looks I have ever had of this species. A Western Scrub-Jay and Black-throated Gray Warbler were also seen.
