Sighting

This afternoon, sighted Chris's Merlin in the locust tree above the creek on Sunland Indian Res. Rd.. Very much like the columbrius form pictured in the book Chris gave me. Also, 50+ Mountain Bluebirds hovering for bugs on both sides of the road, a HUGE flock of Horned Larks (how do you count them in such numbers?)and lots of blackbirds--not sure what kind. I found the picked out carcass of a bluebird along the fence line. Could be the work of the Merlin! Very strong westerly gusts and rolling tumbleweeds. Hope tomorrow is not so blustery.
