Mono Lake County Park at the third

George and I found a Red-naped Sapsucker and Myrtle Warbler at the County Park this morning. The sapsucker was a male. I do not know when the juveniles molt, but he was bright. I suspect he wasn't born this summer. But the Myrtle Warbler was, and we sussed it out from its call note (deeper, more click than smack of the Audubon's), and the white collar reaching around its cheek. There was a dark morph Red-tailed Hawk, a female Northern Harrier, but no Rough-legged Hawks yet. Nothing else struck me as unusual, though there were at least 3 Hairies and 2 Downies, lots of face-pounding all around us. Thanks to George for getting me out of the office.
