Cactus Wren and Yellow headed blackbirds 5 BridgesObservers: Andy Tomaselli Chico CA SightingGreetings from Chico. This is more of an inquiry rather than a bird report. I've perused many of your pages but cannot find a complete bird list for Bishop area. I had looked up your site from a friend's computer while visiting in the Bishop area Sat. 4-26-08. Not sure how common nor how far north Cactus Wrens habitate. One in a cottonwood near "Farmers Pond", dry as of Sat. Also a yellow headed b. bird in another cottonwood (my FOS YHBB in Chico 2 weeks prior). At Mono Lake on west shore Sunday morning I watched 2 ravens harrassing a pair of Ferrugies. Also had good looks at a merlin, osprey and the usual suspects; Cal Gulls and Eared grebes. Unable to get a definitive look, I may have seen a female red breasted merganser amongst the grebes and tufa. Are RB Mergansers likely on Mono? Again, can some kind soul please direct me to a more or less complete list of birds in your area? Thanks, Andy Tomaselli, Chico CA Copyright Eastern Sierra Audubon Society. All Rights Reserved.
