Sighting

At noon today, 4 May, we had brief but good-enough views of a Lucy's Warbler in the Willow tree behind our house. We never got views of the rufous rump, but everything else matched up. It was a slim warbler, about the size of the nearby dozen Wilson's Warblers, actively gleaning insects from the leaves, all gray above, no wingbars, dark eye on a pale face, similarly pale underparts, thin bill. This is perhaps the 5th record we know of in the Owens Valley. We presume this bird overshot it's breeding grounds in SE Inyo.
