just a quick note on sewer pond stuff. a male blue-winged teal was keeping a low profile with the other fowl from the wind. a black tern danced across the water's surface and about that albino...bufflehead is about all it could be but something about the head wasn't quite right. i'm not trying to front john, but it seemed weird. goldeneye jumped into my head, but the bird is rather small. get out there and see it! and the kestrel nestbox project has produced one active nest, with three nestlings about 3 1/2 weeks old. on the 7th, with help from rosie, chris, sean and some of rosie's class, we banded the chicks. very cute.
