This evening over the Bishop Creek Canal at the East end of may street Erin and I spotted soaring bird at some distance. Our conversation stopped and we started trying to put a name to this erraticly flying bird. Raven? no it's wings are too long. Turkey Vulture? it's too small and it just doesn't look right, but it's flying in a dihedral. Maybe it's just a wierd Red Tail. Shame on us we didn't even have a pair of binocs between us. Fortunately, the forces of nature had it in their will to enlighten us and after a few minutes this beautiful Swainson's Hawk glided right over our heads.
