This morning around 10:30 I heard and saw a yellow-billed cuckoo in northwest Bishop, just west of Meadowcreek. It was in large native willows along a watered ditch and seen up close and staying in place long enough for good looks at the yellow curved bill with black across the top of the upper mandible. The upperparts were light brown and just covered the black eye. The lower parts were white. No yellow eye ring was seen. Seen on the underside of tail were 4 large white spots. It was found just south of Dixon Greengate Cottonwoods, go to Eastern Sierra Audubon website for directions. No luck in relocating later, we'll try again this afternoon.
