While hiking near Grouse Mt. this beautiful bird was heard singing its shorter than black-headed grosbeak phrases. It was found sitting in the huge Jeffrey Pine along the creek where in the past we've had blue grouse and pygmy owl. Lots of other good birds in the area. This the CDFG exclosure to the south of the Buttermilk Road.
