We went up to Hunter Mt., just north of Panament Valley, to do the annual migrating bird survey. For those who couldn't make it, ya missed a good one! All totaled we saw 46 species at the Jack Ass Spring site. The species are: Turkey Vulture, Sharp-shinned, No. Goshawk & Red-tailed (light and dark morphs) Hawks, Chuckar, Mountain Quail, Black-chinned, Calliope, Broad-tailed & Rufous Hummingbirds, Hairy WP, No. Flicker, Western Wood-Pewee, Willow, Gray & Ash-throated Flycatchers, Pinyon Jay, Common Raven, Mountain Chickadee, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Orange-crowned, Nashville, Yellow, Yellow-rumped (Audubon's), Black-throated Gray, Townsend's, MacGillivaray's, Common Yellowthroat & Wilson's Warblers, Black-headed Grosbeak, Lazuli Bunting, Green-tailed & Spotted Towhees, Chipping, Brewer's, Black-chinned, Sage, Lark & White-crowned Sparrows, Dark-eyed Junco, Brown-headed Cowbird, Hooded & Bullock's Orioles, Cassin's & House Finches, and Lesser Goldfinch.
