When we threw our leftover turkey carcass over the back fence this morning, we expected Black-billed Magpies would find it right away...but we didn't expect an adult Red-shouldered Hawk to snatch the largest piece and fly into a nearby tree to devour it! We had never heard of Red-shouldereds eating birds or carrion before! Anyway, it looks as if it had a good Thanksgiving!
