This evening Sacha and I went out to the DWP dock to search out a reported large raft of Phalaropes on the lake. We were pleased to find a flock estimated at about 10,0000 birds out in the middle of the lake. We watched for about 10 minutes as the entire flock took flight and flew in unison in spiraling waves above the lake. The most amazing part being the sea wave-like sound of the birds banking in unison. Quite possibly one of the most spectacular things I have ever seen.
