Today I had was able to photograph one of these collared doves on top of telephone pole. I hope the photos will show the gray undertail coverts which are a key mark to differeniate between the slightly smaller Ringed Turtle-Dove. I've talked to 4 dif neighbors now & they said they'd been curious as to this new bird on the block. It seems they first started noticing it about a year ago, which is when Jim & I first saw it. It seems these are not birds that someone owned and got loose but birds that just showed up and stayed. It seems there's a lot of bird feeding in the area and good habitat including watered ditches.Friendly people to bird watchers too.
