Description

On 2 Sep I heard the high thin vocalization of a waxwing and turned to see if it was truly a waxwing or the dead-ringer imitation that starlings can give. After hearing it given over and over (starlings usually only give it once or twice) I began to think that they might really be waxwings. Three of them exploded out of our walnut tree calling as they flew away their long slim bodies strikingly different from the fat and stumpy bodies of starlings. These are the first of fall birds and right on time!
