To complement the several reports posted on this site this fall of Acorn Woodpeckers in unusual places, I will add that the acorn crop in cismontane California - according to the California Acorn Report - is the worst since at least 1983. There will be LOTS of Acorn Woodpeckers fleeing their territories to find food, some of which will show up in strange places.
