Sighting

In all the times and seasons I've birded in Lone Pine, I've never seen these three in town: an Acorn Woodpecker, a Lewis's and a Scrub-Jay all hanging out together in Mike's Meadow behind Carl's jr. The Acorn was flycatching from the top of a tree, and the Lewis's, apparently feeling territorial over this particular tree, kept chasing it off. The Scrub-Jay watched the action from lower branches and raspily gave its opinion on the whole thing. Later, I saw two more Lewis's. Maybe these aren't post-worthy birds, but I was excited to see them. Later I flushed and saw my first American Bittern at Owens River. It was a good birding day.
