On 28 Oct an adult male Prothonotary Warbler was near the pig pen at Deep Springs College. Other good birds at Deep Springs were an adult male Varied Thrush, 5 American Crows, 2 juvenile Lewis's Woodpeckers, and 2 Steller's Jays. At Tollhouse was a Golden-crowned Sparrow, another Steller's Jay and a sapsucker that may be a hybrid Red-naped X Red-breasted. Just as Kern County starts to "slow" down with regards to vagrants is when Inyo County starts to fire up. The next 3 weeks are usually the best for fall vagrants so bird, bird, bird!
