Sighting

On 6 May a stunning Lewis's Woodpecker flew over our heads heading south and then half an hour later we saw another one flying north. This is such a rare bird here that we have to count it as one bird moving about. Migration is happening as indicated by 18 Wilson's Warblers, mostly males, 6 Townsend's Warblers, one female, 8 Black-headed Grosbeaks, and 3 Olive-sided Flycatchers. The most common birds were Lesser Goldfinches and Brown-headed Cowbirds with 20 each. This is the best time of the year!
