On 10 July at noon Susan Steele, from Ridgecrest, found the Brown Pelican dead at Tinemaha Reservoir. It had been reported by a couple of observers as not looking very healthy earlier. It was first found flying by Owens Lake 1 July and found at Tinemaha 7 July. It is not likely that this bird found the food supply necessary to survive. That's what inexperienced youngsters are wont to do.
