Spotted the Sage Sparrow on my morning walk with the dogs. Pretty weak malar stripe, with dark breast smudge as shown in figure 28.5 in Beadle and Rising. The malar stripe appeared more diffuse than that shown for canascens in the same reference. They talk about a possible hybridization between the two subspecies but don't go much in what can be expected in that case - any info??
