Sighting

While working out between Bishop and the airport, I had the distinctive fly by of a male Broad-tailed with its chricket-like wing whir. He flew by and made a U-turn to briefly to hit up some paintbrush flowers, flashing his huge tail, before heading on his way. Also seen and heard were Anna's and Blackchinned Hummers. Yesterday I had both Black-chinned and Rufous near the river south of E. Line St. also on paintbrush. The hummers were working the Castilleja linariaefolia, Longleafed or Wyoming Paintbrush, which seem to be some of the best hummingbird magnets here in the valley.
