Sighting

Today at lunch (11 Oct 2006), behind the Bishop City Park there was a Black-and-White Warbler working the vertical trunks of large Cottonwoods, generally moving upward. First seen near eye level at 40 feet. The back was black with lots of bold white streaks. I never got a view of the underparts or undertail coverts. The most distinctive features on the head were the two black lateral crown stripes set off by a white supercilium and median crown stripe. Otherwise, the face and throat was creamy white, suggesting a female. I didn’t see buffy tones, so perhaps this was an adult female.
