I spotted him in our backyard, rich yellow-orange and black, with black mask,wings,tail and mantle. The black mantle was fully adorned with pale scalloped fringes to feathers. He came into our hummer feeder after I put it up again as the bees would drink it down and empty it in a matter of hours. Date was March 20, 2007. I've never had so many bees at the hummer feeder before this winter and spring. Also nice to have the male Costa's hummer in the yard too.
