Sighting

They are fairly common breeders in all the mountains in Inyo County but they are not known to breed on the valley floor. This is the peak of spring migration and the reports are pouring in with 20 seen at Baker Meadow on the Eastern Sierra Audubon field trip last Sat and the same morning 16 were in a yard feeding on sunflower seeds. The strong north wind kept most migrants down which accounts for the larger than normal numbers being reported in just a few hours.
