Sighting

Black-and-white Warbler and Prothonotary Warbler in the Amargosa Canyon today, about a mile south of Tecopa, past the spot where the trail crosses the spring. Both males, the Black-and-white Warbler was singing all morning. High-pitched monotone, see-tsee-tsee-tsee-tsee-tsee-tsee (six tsees and a see), black cheek, white eye-ring and bold white supercillium without yellow. The Prothonotary had a yellow head and body, dark, bluish wings, and white undertail. Both viewed within 5m, my camera was about 70 km further away. My first Prothonotary. Also my first Willow Flycatcher of the season, and Brown-crested Flycatchers are loud and about. I found a pair of Green Herons calling and looking edgy, they may already have a nest - we'll keep looking.
