Great Blue - killed by fishing line, Tinemaha Reservoir

Observers: Todd Vogel, et al

The dead bird is suspended by a foot - fishing line clearly visible - in a large cottonwood, near the north west end of the reservoir. I decided to post this as a reminder that, in case there is any doubt, picking up "discarded" fishing line is a good thing to do... Other than that Thanksgiving was a great afternoon to bird at the reservoir with highlights including 16 Tundra Swans coasting near us to a stunning afternoon light landing, numerous ducks, several DC Corms and 24 LB Dowitchers. Also, seemed like more Great Egrets than usual - at least eight individuals.
