After checking on the swan which we studied with the scope we checked the Owens River nearby & were delighted to see a flycatcher that was different from the expected Say's Phoebe & Black Phoebe at this time of year. This dull flycatcher was flycatching from the tops of willows, had a white chin & underside with soft streaks along her sides, subtle white eyebrow, yellow in the belly and solid gray-brown above including her crown. A longish, straight and narrow flycatcher bill going after the flying insects along the river. She's smaller than the Black Phoebe also present with a shorter tail.
