Sighting

Today I saw the summer's first dispersing Black Phoebe, oozing grace which I definitely need. They do not nest on Rush Creek, and I am unaware of any nesting locations in the Mono Basin, so far as I know. Then I heard a great sound for the Mimid-less mind - a Gray Catbird singing around Channel 10. I was psyched to recognize the song, as I have only heard one sing once before, on Rush a few years ago. It was moving quickly upstream and I didn't get a look at it, but fortunately, it came back an hour or so later and riffed like a champ. I had nets up at the time, I cannot tell you how exciting it is to have 4 nets up when there's a vagrant Mimid slamming around. But unfortunately, I couldn't catch him.
