Downtown Independence, 9Aug: a bird in flight calling keep-keep. Not a pine tree to be found, so this crossbill settled into a locust. From there it called over and over for ten minutes, before flying off. Its call was a bit different from others I have heard: keep-keep (sometimes just a single keep) rather than kip-kip. Photo attached just barely shows the bill and some color.
