Bountiful Birchim Canyon provided a good look at a 1st spring male American Redstart this afternoon (5/30). Maybe it's not as exciting as the look of the adult male which closely resembles a black phoebe that just burst into red flames, but it's still a pretty bird. (And I take it back for saying I was SICK of American redstarts back in Ohio.) Where, in the "garbage can grove" just 50 meters west (upstream) of the green gate near the housing. Also observed at Birchim this afternoon were a red-breasted nuthatch and an Oriantha (mountain) white-crowned sparrow.
