That's a wonderful canyon Another good place to bird in there is turn left before the gate (takes you up Tioga Pass)to the campground areas. Just before bird houses on the right in the aspens turn left into an open parking area (it's on the east side of the huge meadow that begins there). Park here and walk across a gated wooden bridge, you'll be crossing Lee Vining Crk, back into an aspen/Jeffrey Pine forest with small wet meadows. Lots of nesting birds in there. Follow the road to the southeast. We always hear Pacific Slope Flycatchers singing in there, vireos and Hairy woodpeckers. Excellent habitat with lots diversity. Mosquitos? yes!
