A male and female Least Bittern were seen this morning flying over the southwest corner of Diaz Lake and dropping into the reeds. According the the article written by Andrew Kirk (Western Birds 26:165) this is right in the middle of the breeding season and if they are breeding there this would be a new location. If any observers are at Diaz Lake and see any indications of breeding please contact Andrew and us right away. Thanks.
