On 1 Oct we had a Sanderling, Bobolink and first of fall Dunlin at Cottonwood Marsh and a Burrowing Owl at Death Valley Junction. On 2 Oct we had a Chestnut-collared Longspur, Inca Dove, Swamp Sparrow and Painted Bunting at Furnace Creek Ranch as well as three usual birds in an unusual place: Osprey, White Pelican and Spotted Towhee also at the ranch. At Panamint Springs (checked both days for the Louisiana Waterthrush) was a White-throated Sparrow. Only a month left to look for vagrants then it really IS winter when our attention is turned to gulls! Yours for good vagrancy, T&J
