These birds were eating seeds in the parking lot for the pine crk trailhead around 4 PM. The slate-colored was a brownish black with pinkish-buff tertial & primary edges. The black came clear down into the breast (head didn't have a hooded look), with black sides and white belly. Striking looking bird.
