yesterday, the 18th i spied a adult male merlin in the atlas cedars behind the Independence court building. very nice little "blue jack." then this morning, 19th, i had no less than six Swainson's Hawks together in trees at the south end of the Fish Spring loop about 1/2 mile south of the silos. three ASY (adult) birds and two tattered SY (second-year) birds. just north a pair of adults were perched together. and one correction on my VASW posting, we saw it on 15 Apr.
