On Friday 11 Jan Jerry and I were birding behind Bishop park and indeed saw 2 Western Scrub-Jays fly to Marge's feeders from the adjacent field. Both birds appeared to be of the interior "woodhouseii" race - a grayer blue than the coastal race and lacking the distinctive blue necklace. Since the woodhouseii race is known to be shy, I was surprised to see them coming to a feeder. The attached photo shows one of them. Thanks, Marge, for keeping such a great feeder station on my lunch birdwalk circuit! |
