well, I just forgot how to get to the lek, so slept nearby. I awoke to singing Vesper sparrows and looked around for the lekking grounds. there was a good size group there at 530 when I finally arrived. and were there birds. I haven't been keeping up on the lek, but I counted 177 birds at one point (~615) with over 130 males. The cool thing was that the vast majority of the birds kept displaying well past dawn until maybe 730 when the exodus for the sage began. a very nice morning.
