The female type was first heard calling from high up in the tall cottonwoods at the southeast corner of the park and seen briefly. Not red but olive green paler in the chin and darker gray in the belly area. Because of the coloration it seems like a young bird. The ID was made by using a recording machine with the bird calling extensively and then listening to tapes at home. The calls matched perfectly to Summer Tanager. Location is near the log fence at the back of the park in the thick tall cottonwoods.
