Description

This morning a few of us were lucky enough to find a molting male American Redstart in the huge willows near the greengate at east end of Birchim. The area where there is a shallow waterfall. Also present were Warbling Vireo, Yellow-breasted Chat, Yellow Warblers, Indigo Bunting (still singing), Western Tanager, Bullock's Oriole and Blue Grosbeak. We heard the chip notes of another bunting. According to Heindel's graph the American Redstart is a somewhat unusual summer sighting as they don't breed near here.
