Description

There was a fem. Lark Bunting present at the Patriarch Grove parking area in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the Inyo Nat. Forest. The bird was seen at sunset on Aug. 12, 2002, and again the next day(Aug 13) in the morning. The large white covert patches were very obvious, the streaked breast had a central spot, and the head details included strong black malar marks, whitish throat, large bluish bill, pale supercilliary area, and a bit of an eye ring. The bird was foraging exclusively on the ground, and was never seen any more the 6 or 8 inches above ground level.
