Description

In and around Shulman Grove in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest on 19 August, Karen DeMello and I had Canyon and Rock Wren, Pygmy and White-Breasted Nuthatch, MacGillivray's, Black-Throated Gray and Hermit Warbler, and Fox Sparrow.

At the Patriarch Grove we had Mountain Bluebirds and a Golden Eagle soaring high overhead.

Our best single location was Tollhouse Springs on the 20th, where we had Chukar (10), Pinyon Jay (30), Yellow and Black-Throated Gray Warbler, Western Tanager (male and female), female Black-Headed Grosbeak and Chipping Sparrow.

Off 395 about 6 miles south of Big Pine, also 20 August, we had a Swainson's Hawk. At Alabama Hills, we had a flock of about 500 American White Pelicans soaring overhead.
