Description

Today I took a GPS receiver and walked a transect due north from my house in Mono City for about six miles. I hardly saw anything! Signs of winter: A flock of 31 Common Raven, Mountain Bluebirds and Golden-crowned Kinglets around 7000 feet, in the bitterbrush. One Sage Sparrow. I may wait until March before I try the South transect.
