| After all these snowstorms, we wondered what those Short-eared Owls Jon Dunn found in mid-November on the west side of Crowley Reservoir were doing. This afternoon, we parked at the McGee Creek turnoff from 395 and skied toward Crowley past the white modular home through variable but generally 2 feet of powder. Three Short-eared Owls were found along McGee Creek pastures coursing back and forth over the snow and occasionally dropping down through it. These birds are a treat to watch and the effort was a great way to start winter, officially! | |
