Description

Parking the car about 1 mile above the narrows (where the road narrows to single lane) and just beyond the 7000 ft elevation sign, we hiked west up into the Pinyon/Juniper to see what we could find. We came across a feeding flock of 75-100 Cassin's Finches, nearby were a few Red Crossbills flying over, saw a few Scrub Jays, a few Townsend's Solitaires, a few Juniper Titmice (these were the hardest to track down and were in a dry south facing slope area), Oregon Juncos, a female Hairy Woodpecker busy feeding & calling, flock of Bushtits and a few Common Ravens.
