Description

Two dark morph swainson's hawks being chased by two ravens on the northeast side of Cactus Flat. We watched them circle, dive and dodge for about 3 minutes until the ravens won out and the hawks flew off to the northwest. Overall dark with tail bands, longish wings and vulture-like flight lead me to Swainson's. Also, a female ladderback woodpecker arching between blooming Joshua trees on the northwest slopes & black throated sparrows singing from creosote perches. Oh yeah, lots of flowers & bugs, too.
