We were delighted to see a male Western Tanager behind our house at lunch; it sure brightened up our day! The Heindel Graphs show it as an early record, but the ESBird archives show this sighting fits in nicely with other early records: 15 Apr 2002 (Parkers), 18 Apr 2001 (Kirks), and 16 Apr 2000 (Kirks). Then, a gorgeous male Calliope Hummingbird briefly visited our feeder only to be chased away by a male Rufous.
