With a smattering of intriguing data we presume that a few Hooded Orioles breed in Owens Valley but we have no solid proof of breeding. We need adults carrying food, fecal sacs, nesting material, feeding young fledged or not. We have multiple breeding records from Scotty's Castle, Furnace Creek, China Ranch, etc. in palm trees, their preferred breeding habitat, but Grinnell and Miller state that they will also use cottonwoods and willows.
