Jon was totally appropriate in posting a Steller's Jay in Bishop. If this species was observed in the mountains "where they are expected" it may have been inappropriate. Some years Steller's Jays descend in good numbers to the valley floor, other years they don't. In order to determine what kind of year it was people should post when they see Steller's Jays in the Owens Valley. This is a good year as there have been other observations, mostly oral, with 11 seen together in Big Pine the largest number reported. Jon's post was helpful and no apology for being helpful is needed!
