Sighting

Made a brief stop at Diaz Lake this afternoon while passing through Lone Pine and found a solitary sandpiper near the entrance. It was in the company of 2 avocets on the area of exposed bank to the east of the boat launch near the park entrance. It flushed and flew off towards the north end of the lake. The avocets came back, but the solitary did not. It may still be hanging around somewhere along the shore of the lake. We also had a light morph ferruginous hawk along 395 just south of the Ranch House in Olancha.
