Sighting

Driving through Death Valley just as it was getting dark and a couple of miles east of the Wildrose Station, east of Towne Pass caught the glimmer of some eyes low on the road in my headlights. Slowed down and found it to be a Common Poorwill perching on the edge of the asphalt. I stopped and it stayed there a few minutes then took off and flew away! First bird i've inspected through my binoculars with my car headlights! Also stopped at Death Valley Junction with 19 species in about 20 minutes of observation including Semipalmated Plover, Wilson's Snipe, Wilson's Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, Cinnamon Teal, Phainopepla, lots of Audubon's Warblers, Yellow-headed Blackbird, Spotted Sandpiper, and others!!
